Inspiration is Blooming!

Posted by ScrapGoo

It's May!  And you know what that means, right?  National Scrapbooking Day and the biggest crop of the year here at ACOT!  But it also means a whole new set of inspiring challenges to get you ready for the big weekend.  Pick a few to get you warmed up for all the cropping and save the others for the inevitable crop withdrawal you will have after the dust settles!

Remember:

- only one LO per challenge will enter you into the points drawing

LOs cannot be entered into more than one challenge category

- *please* only enter LOs that meet the specific challenge instructions

Ad Inspiration Challenge - By MamaK321 (Kristianne)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

All About Me Challenge - By millmomma (Brittney)

Paper or Digi

This month's AAM is to tell your deepest secret. Share the inside dirt. Tell us all the secret you've been keeping. Turn it into a wonderful layout to show case your biggest secret in your life at this point. Mine is my fan-dom for the lovely lacy, satin-y Victoria Secret.

Altered Object Challenge - By JulesinParadise (Jules)

Paper or Hybrid Scrapbooking

During the past year, my challenges have been to alter common household items into something for a card or layout or to create an embellishment for these. This month, I'm challenging you to revisit any of this year's past challenges and pick you that you did NOT do this past year or to do one you have done DIFFERENTLY. All entries must be NEW.

Pick one: cardboard, tissue paper, glass bottle, ribbon, product packaging, toolbox (nuts, bolts, screws, etc), medicine chest contents, envelopes, tags, aluminum foil and altering an item of clothing.

Can't wait to see what everyone picks.

Happy Altering, Jules

Card Challenge - By bluejeans7 (Angela)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

Create a homemade flower embellishment to use on your card this month. Any theme is fine as long as you have at least one flower embellishment that you have made on it.

I created my flower by spraying a chipboard flower shaped with Glimmer Mist Chalkboard and then added buttons on it.

Color Challenge - by Art_Teacher (Laura)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

In May, I am inspired by my beautiful daffodils, and I inspire you to use a color that I rarely use in my scrapping: yellow! Your layout must be at least 50% yellow and can be paired with any colors you wish.

Countdown Challenge - By sarahwhithers (Jennifer)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

For this challenge you will create a layout using a countdown method of items. I will list five different kinds of things (eg. elements, papers, photos) for you to use in your layout. Every month there will be five new items for you to use. And for this month, since April showers bring May flowers, I want to see flowers and blue!

5 - Flowers
4 - Blue Things (can be paper, elements, anything you like)
3 - Papers
2 - Pictures
1 - Frame

You are welcome to use more than these items (eg. 2 frames instead of 1 is fine) just as long as you meet the required list and numbers asked for each. An example is seen below.

Die Cut Challenge - By Dianedi (Diane)

Paper  Scrapbooking

On Hiatus

Digi CT Reveal Challenge - By Janello (Janell)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

This month take a moment to do as the CT did and scraplift someone from the A Cherry On Top Community. You may scraplift a card or layout. Digi or Paper. Let's see the inspiration YOU get from our community right here at ACOT.

Check out this digi CT article for inspiration!

Digi Do-Able Challenge - By Smiley-Scrap8 (Ronny

Digital Scrapbooking

This month the template is by kcatt79! Get the May Template free in the digi shoppe and use it to create your layout!

My example:

Fashion Findings Challenge - By happayscrappay (Rachel)

Paper or Digi

April Fashion Findings

This month the focus is horizontal or diagonal stripes. Stripes can be solid colors in repeated or non-repeated patterns, made from patterned paper, stripes of flowers, equal sized, unequal sized, the sky is the limit!

Rachels's example:

Mandi's example:

Heritage Challenge - By JanetM (Janet)

Paper AND Digital Scrapbooking

It's time to record something special , fun or just a little story about one of your grandparents. We all have something little or maybe a big story that you remember but how nice it is when we can pass down a personality to go with a photo.

I choose my grandmother and there are so many stories to tell about her, she was such a fun person.

So this month lets hear some good stories or share a tender memory in your layout.

Hybrid Challenge - By Smiley-Scrap8 (Ronny)

Paper AND Digital Scrapbooking

Use one of these two sketches from pagemaps.com to make a card using both digital supplies and traditional supplies. I used a beautiful new kit called Spring Awakens by SAS Designs to make a card from my MIL for Mother's Day. The patterned paper, leaves, one flower and the circle element are all printed from that kit.

My example:

Journaling Challenge - By Jenn Kellams (Jenn)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

This month I want for you create a layout explaining how to do something. I walked in my laundry room this morning and my husband had so politely piled up the laundry for me but didn't bother to do any. His reply is "I don't know how". So I proceeded to tell him. :-) This layout can be done with or without a photo. It must be new.

Manufacturer Challenge - By 4peasinourpod (Pam)

Paper Scrapbooking

This month is Martha Stewart Crafts!
My layout this month has butterflies and border punches from Martha Stewart! I LOVE her punches!

Music Challenge - By carrie123 (Carrie)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

On Hiatus

One Word Challenge - By Mommybruno (Cassie)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

Mother's Day is this month, which of course got me thinking about my own mom. I wrote her a letter, to let her know how much she means to me. But it's not just moms that we should be thinking of. So this month's One Word Challenge is to use the word Dear. Who else is dear to you? Have you told them why? Or is there something you hold dear to your heart - an item, a memory, a philosophy? You can scrap anything, as long as the word Dear is somewhere on your layout.

Photography Challenge - By nun69 (Angie)

Photography

Get out and find some shade and enjoy the sunshine!

Scraplift the GCT Challenge - By averys_mom and Carrie123 (Mandi and Carrie)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

This month's Paper GCT is javalove! Please go to her gallery here and choose a layout to scraplift, then upload both yours and her layout into the gallery!

I chose to scraplift her "These Ducks Can Catch" layout:

And here's Mandi's example!

Sketch Challenge - By Kimandasmo (Cindy), 4peasinourpod (Pam), and CT

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

Happy May! The month of flowers and new beginnings and bright and happy things. This month we have a terrific sketch for to use to document this time. Flip it, turn it however you like, just draw some inspiration from it.

Supply List Challenge - By SarahA (Sarah)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

This month's supply list is one of my favorites- stitching (hand, machine or faux is fine!), fabric and a shipping tag or two!

Theme Challenge - By ChrissyTina (Chrissy)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

This month's theme challenge is simply "MOM"!

Trends & Techniques Challenge - By Megamay (Meg)

Paper Scrapbooking

Since we have had a lot of trends lately, I thought a technique challenge was in store for this month. So, your challenge this month is distressing - inking, edge distressing, crumpling, etc.

On this page I used an edge distresser on some of the papers and inked some of the others.
